Feeding my soul this Holiday Season

"Words We Wear" played to three engaged and sold out houses.  It was a huge success for Epic Vita, the sponsoring organization.  It was also a huge success for me as a director and writer of theatre.  I learned a lot from working with this wonderful team.  I now get three wonderful weeks to process that production before I jump back into the work.  Real reflection doesn't happen until the tension dissipates - and with any creative endeavor there is a bit of tension.  Good work is soul baring.  It makes a person sensitive.  It make a person invested.  I'm so thankful for the opportunity to do good work.

I get to have a couple weeks off over the holiday.  Hopefully I will be able to use that time to connect with friends and family, but also to prep for the new year.  Some fun nuggets - I get to watch some of my wonderful friends perform "Dickens by Candlelight" this Friday in the Patron's room at Orlando Shakes.  I saw this show last year, and it was so delightful that this year I am bringing my whole family!  ALSO, I will be seeing "Waiting for Godot" on Broadway this season.  I'm so excited to visit NYC again.  The energy in the city is just amazing.  Even if it will be arctic weather!

More holiday work includes my teaching.  First, of course, this website is slowly nearing the completion of the first iteration.  At the very least, my deadline for the Facilitator section is January 1st-ish.  By then I should look like an awesome teacher ;-)  I'm open to suggestions fro improvement!  Second, we are rebuilding our online Public Speaking class at Full Sail.  I'm reading up on new practices and developing lessons that are hopefully both engaging and informative.  I'll post any new and exciting videos I make right here in the "Facilitator" section.  Check it out!

Finally, I will be reading.  I'm prepping for the SITI summer program, so I'm going to be immersed in the writings of Ann Bogart from now through May.  And I'll be reading scripts.  I'm playing Ellen in Mad Cow's staged reading of "An Experiment with an Air Pump" by Shelagh Stephenson.  It will be part of their new Science Play Festival.  The festival runs January 10-12.  My reading will be Friday, January 10th at 7:30 PM.  Visit Mad Cow's website for more information and to purchase tickets.

It's been an eventful year.  I learned a lot.  I made theatre.  I taught classes.  I made new friends.  I took risks.  I'm looking forward to more of the same in the new year.
