I've added pictures from my most recent show "CREATION: Births of Mythlogy," performed at Valencia College. It closed yestrday. I'm incredibly proud of my students. I directed the design, but my students truly did the hard work perfecting the designs for the puppets, incorporating their unique artistry in everything the built. I was much more of a guide than a dictator :-)
What a whirlwind 2017 has been so far! Overall, I'm working with a giant handful of creative, brilliant, generous people. I'm incredibly blessed and inspired.
Some exciting projects coming up in October!
On Friday, October 14th, Phantasmagoria's annual Halloween show opens. I directed the puppetry this year. I'm very excited about it! You can purchase tickets and learn more here:
On October 15th, I am presenting a piece in Orlando's Creative City Project!
Workshops described run about 2 hours each. Workshop contents, duration, and focuses are easily adjusted based on the needs of the ensemble or students.
I have a new piece in development! It is a 5 minute puppetry.movement short. I'm pretty excited about it. :-)
Here were the parameters for the piece:
Promt: If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do today?
Specs: Use at least one object, one piece of music, and up to 3 performers.
The puppet is masking tape and newspaper. He has a wooden dowel in his head.
I'm so proud to be a part of such a talented creative team. We managed our first stumble-thorugh for "Words We Wear" on Monday night. It was a success. We are still working on transitions between pieces, but it is becoming clear that the work we've done is going to pay off.
I'm officially done writing the piece "Words of my Mother," which is a 3 minute part within "Words We Wear." One of the actors will be under a piece of fabric for the duration of the piece. I'm sewing that fabric together this weekend. You'll have to come see he show to see what it looks like!
